TIL Lincon received a Letter from Giuseppe Garibaldi (italian national hero) praising him of his decision to free black slaves in USA. Garibaldi, sent some volunteers to assist the unionists during the american civil war, those recuits formed the "italian legion" and the "Garibaldi guards"
