Recently got the Odyssey G8 34" OLED, loving it! However...

Hey everyone,

I figured this is the best place to ask this because Samsung forums do not help at all.

Switched to a G8 OLED from my old dual 27" setup a few days ago and I am loving the monitor, genuinely didn't know these colors existed, everything about this monitor is just better than what I had.

HOWEVER

For whatever reason, it just does not turn on when I turn my computer on. My PC is on, but my monitor screen is just black. Turning it on and off using the remote doesn't do anything, unplugging the power cable or HDMI cable doesn't do anything, selecting my PC as a source doesn't do anything - it is just a black screen.

I had to connect one of my old monitors, log into my PC through that, and only after logging in my Samsung started showing the image from the PC. Changing the cable from HDMI to DP also helped, but I haven't tried turning my PC off and then on again.

This is a bummer for me because I do not want to have to keep connecting another display just to have this monitor wake up. I was planning on selling the other two, but if this is the case I might just return the G8 despite how much I am loving it.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Is there a setting I have to turn On/Off? is there a certain order I have to turn my devices on? Or is this just how this monitor behaves?

I updates all my drivers, BIOS, chipset, the monitor firmware - everything. I stay on top of that so there is no way anything is outdated, but even if it is - the monitor should still have an output, no?

Please help.

Edit: so I think the “solution” is to just not let the monitor enter the standby mode and turn it off after turning the PC off, and then turn it on before turning the PC on. So far this seems to work, just adds an extra step for no reason. If anyone else has an easier solution (like a setting I can toggle) - please let me know!
