Am I the only one that prefers upfront pricing? What am I missing?
For reference I’ve only been driving for a month, doing it in spare time to make some extra cash maybe only 4-8 hours per week. My city is upfront pricing, and I am able to see both the pickup and destination (even with a super low acceptance rate) and what I’ll make for a ride. This allows me to make a decision clearly on if I want it or not based on those factors. I sometimes even turn on the app when running errands by myself across town or on my way home from work to see if I can snag a ride going similar place (sometimes using destination filter sometimes not).
I was driving through a different city on my way somewhere last night and was ahead of schedule, so I turned on destination filter and started checking for rides. In this other city, it only told me the pickup location and how far away it was. I couldn’t see the destination or how far outside my route it would take me or how much I would earn. I ended up getting an acceptable $/mile but less than ideal $/min (mostly because of traffic).
I see a lot of posts on here about how upfront pricing has been so bad, but for me I really don’t like the other method. As a driver with upfront pricing I can decline rides that are going to an area that I don’t want to go, either because of distance or because it may take me from a high earning area or because it is a dangerous part of town (if they won’t deliver the mail there why would I accept a ride there). But if I couldn’t see the destination or how much I’ll make, I’d likely stop driving.
What am I missing?
