How has your cat (positively) impacted your mental health?
My tortie, Miss Marshy, is my first ever cat. I have spent years battling depression and anxiety, and am recently diagnosed AuDHD. So I'm quite a mellow soul. But my girl has brought out a silliness and pure joy in me that hasn't been seen in years. We haven't even had her for a month yet, but spending concious time with her gets me grinning from ear to ear. My depression has been creeping up on me after what was a really exciting month, but spending time playing or following her around to have her melt into my pats and greet them with her deep purs can immediately make me feel so much better. It seems like there's a solid reason why animal therapy was recommended in my AuDHD diagnostic report.
So I suppose my question is simple. How has your tortie, your cat, or even just your pet positively impacted your mental health, helped with your mental illness symptoms, or generally improved your life? I'm sure that we'd all love to read some happy and loving stories of gratitude right now. Thank you also for reading my story (thus far.)
