I receive massively different speeds on all my devices. Like massively different. Currently using Iphone and Asus laptop. Iphone receives turbo speed. Laptop is slow as a turtle.
Hey people
I recently got a fiber optic 5G connection installed at my home (about a week ago), but I've been facing major speed fluctuations, and it’s driving me nuts. Sometimes I get blazing-fast speeds up to 130 Mbps, and then, 30 minutes later, the speed plummets to 0.6 Mbps!
I have never used this subreddit so I hope I got the flair right! Mods pls don't delete if its wrong ;-;
I wfh so this is kinda bad deal for me.
Here’s the weird part:
- On my iPhone 15s, I consistently get speeds over 100 Mbps (even during low-speed times for other devices). Even when my laptop doesn't get any speed, speed tests on Iphone is consistently pulling almost 200+ Mbps.
- On my Asus FX503VD laptop (Windows 10), the speed fluctuates the most, sometimes dipping below 1 Mbps. Like for 30 minutes I will 100+ mbps and then for the next 10 minutes I can't even browse reddit.
- The other connecting devices are my 2 phones (Iphone and Samsung). My mother's Samsung phone. My laptop (Asus) and a water geaser. And I usually work the night shifts when neither of these devices are under work.
My Diagnosis attempt:
This is such a weird problem, I don't even know how to look this one up on google. I have done speed tests on multiple websites and Iphone consistently blazes.
I changed WiFi passwords. Double-checked to see I don't have large steam updates going on in the background. I don't use utorrent or any vpns. Never have.
My mom isn't a heavy user and is the only one other than me who occasionally uses this connection.
I called the company tech support but their response has been laggish and I kinda suspect the fault may be on my end.
Laptop Details:
Asus FX503VD
Microsoft Windows 10. 64 bit.
1 TB Samsung SSD
NVIDIA GTX 1050
Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ CPU
One last thing, I did check the intel and driver updates. All seems to be well except:
Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® drivers for Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 and Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 isn't updated. Whenever I try to update it, it gives the error message:
Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software
"This product cannot support downgrading from version 22.0.0.2 to version 22.200.0.2.
Please uninstall the product and try again or contact the product vendor."
Could this be the issue?
