Does age matter when making a career change to SDR?

Im 52. My experience for most of my work life is in the oilfield. Not your average roughneck. I operate and manage a tool that logs data and acts as a compass for horizontal drilling. I operate multiple computerized systems to collect data for engineers and geologists. With that being said the tech does not scare me. Never been in sales...that scares me some. My biggest concern is my age. It seems the industry is targeting new grads and workers in their 20s. I have researched many different training avenues and will make a decision soon. Im most concerned about the grey in my beard scaring off hiring managers and new opportunities. Any advise on training or outlook for a seasoned noob would be appreciated.
