The Carrie necklace
In the Paris episodes, the Carrie necklace and Carrie losing it was made into a big deal, but it always felt like weird writing to me. The episode makes it seem like it's a callback to something us viewers are familiar with, as if it's been mentioned before and us viewers know how important it is to her. I never really notice what necklaces a character is wearing, so at least to me, it's the first time that necklace is brought up, ever.
Earlier, I saw a discussion on here about that necklace becoming a trend because of SATC at the time. Was that before or after this episode? Is it assumed that I, as a viewer in 2004 and not 2025, have read the fashion magazines and know how many times Carrie has worn the necklace? Is it a callback to that trend? Or was it just weird writing lol
