Italy still sucks
How many times can a team "show promise" before we can call it what it is? Maybe we just suck.
Last two rounds, third quarter of the game: 19-0 against France, 21-0 against England. Deeply unserious team. We still live off of moments of brilliance from good players, whether it's Brex or Capuozzo or who else. The defense against Scotland, England, and France was laughably bad - bar some moments when we did seem to remember how to tackle. Last year we had a decent scramble defense and set piece plays, haven't seen either one this year. The offense is shapeless and toothless, and we seem to be capable of consistently taking stupendously horrific decisions ball in hand that not only nullify scoring changes for us but allow free points to the opponent. And perhaps worst of all, I've never seen a team so often and abruptly check out mentally, both when the game's well out of reach, and when it's still up for grabs.
It's a miracle we won against Wales, but I have no reason to believe we're currently the better team. Maybe Saturday 3PM I'll go for a walk or hit myself in the nuts repeatedly, both more enjoyable than watching angry Ireland humiliate us once more.
