current tiktok controversy explained, not biased
hey! so, considering i haven’t seen any posts on here explaining the current tiktok controversy i think it may be a good idea to inform people who may not know! i’m very aware that a lot of reddit users have tiktok, so i hope this can explain some things and catch everyone up without a biased opinion.
in the past day or two, who i believe is the biggest rtc tiktok creator (other than the actors themselves) has had lots of things come up surrounding them. he goes by ‘flop queen monique’, and has 14k followers. would like to preface my explanation of this story with queen monique uses he/they pronouns, and their real name is miles. along with the fact that at the time this story took place, he only had 700-800 followers. not 14k.
back in april of this year, a user named grace/lottie left a comment saying they dislike noel because he is gay. queen monique saw this, and (they said) this made them uncomfortable as an mlm. he posted a video to his account saying how they had to block the user and unmoot them, and recommended fans do the same as grace was allegedly a homophobe. due to queen monique acting fast and blocking grace, he did not realise that grace themselves is queer and was making a joke.
because of the video, many rtc fans blocked grace and some even sent hate. it is clear to anyone however, that queen monique never intended for his fans to send hate.
who is now revealed to be graces sibling began to spam queen monique with hate (it may have been death threats i can’t quite remember. im not going to say it was for sure, since i have no idea). they explained the situation to him and when he had been informed that grace was actually queer and it had been a joke the whole time, he soon apologised and took down the video.
in an apology video posted by flop queen monique 8 hours before im posting this, they mention that grace and their sibling have held a grudge against him since april, which i personally can vouch for. i saw a comment on a video praising monique a short while ago (at most 2 months ago), and grace commented that they hate him.
it is understandable for grace and their sibling to dislike queen monique for his actions, especially because it was likely to be incredibly harmful sending queer people to an alleged homophobe, and grace did end up being attacked. but actively commenting about your hate for a person is not ok.
id like to mention there will obviously be more to the situation for both queen monique and grace/graces sibling, but this is the main idea we know so far.
lies ive heard: queen monique doxxing grace queen monique purposefully sending people to hate on grace graces sibling doxxing queen monique
about an hour before im posting this, queen monique has clarified that the situation has been resolved between him and the people involved.
NOBODY needs to send hate or anything to any of the people involved, and don’t try to twist the story either. lying about doxxing is so unbelievably serious. this post is not made to send angry mobs to anyone. only inform those confused and unsure over why the tiktok etc fandom is so split. thank you for taking the time to read!
edit: please stop dming me that this isn’t that big of a deal, i know it’s silly childish drama. i am fully aware this is nothing in comparison to other drama on the internet. i did NOT make this post to act like this is some huge scandal, i made this post because the past two days have been hell finding content that isn’t about the situation. yet somehow, despite the fact there’s so much about it, nobody explains the situation (or if they do it’s usually filled with misinformation). i am trying to help people who are confused and worried they may be following a bad person.
