Nparents talk poorly about everyone

Hey guys! So as we all seem to have nparents, I was wondering if yours will talk badly about people and then turn around and call that person to have a conversation with them OR they’ll call someone, have a convo with them then after hanging up they call someone else to talk badly about the first person they were on a call with?

Because this is such a prominent thing in my nparent’s life, I’m constantly paranoid that I’m being talked about badly and it stresses me out so much to the extent that I can’t wear headphones in the house and if I hear them on a call I’ll stop watching TV/my phone because i feel the need to listen to the phone calls to make sure I’m not being discussed.

I know it’s easier said than done to just ignore them because they’ll talk badly about people anyway and you can’t change them or what they’ll say but it still causes stress :(
