Am I incredibly unlucky or is Larvesta a massive Niantic scam?

Volcarona is my favourite Pokemon and when Niantic announced Larvesta as an egg exclusive Pokemon I wasn’t happy because eggs are RNG based and if you want to hatch multiple eggs simultaneously you have to spend money on pokecoins but holy shit the odds of hatching one are abominable. I don’t know if I’m incredibly unlucky but both me and a friend are nearing 300 eggs with no Larvesta and I’ve talked to players who are over 300 eggs and haven’t seen a single Larvesta.

Is it bad luck or are the drop rates incredibly low?
