I have a question about Perfect Pitch
I always wonder how exactly this ability works, because people say someone knows what note any sound they hear is. So here’s what I want to know, in order for this to happen the person must know how each note sounds, right?
If you take someone who has never had contact with music before and this person has perfect pitch but it doesn’t knows how a C, or how a G#7 sounds like. It would be impossible for this individual to identify the note and name it, isn’t it?
I don’t thing I have perfect pitch, and wouldn’t want to, but I can notice if things are out of tune or in harmony, but if you ask me to name a note your playing I wouldn’t know the name 😂. Partly because I never associated the name of the notes with the sound, but that’s basically Relative Pitch imo.
(Since I started practicing music I always had this “unrealistic” idea of what Perfect Pitch really is because of what people say, like for example say your brain takes a “screenshot” of everything you see because you have Photographic Memory.)
