Pakistani Grooming Gangs in the UK - The Actual Facts
I'm posting this here because for some reason on another post about this my comments keep on getting removed. Now this is directly related to Pakistan because my initial post is about someone from Pakistan talking about this and how this impacts the general perception of Pakistanis and Pakistan around the world.
The first thing I want to clear up is that these grooming gangs did not target exclusively white girls. While white girls were the majority of their victims and I have no doubt that the monsters in these gangs were racist, because let's be real if they're not above child abuse, they're probably not above racism either and have all these racist perceptions of women, and white women. But there were also victims who were of Asian, brown girls too, who initially didn't come forward due to fear of social isolation and shame. So to say that these monsters targeted only white girls, is simply incorrect, and actually quite dismissive of the victims who were not white.
Secondly, a key prosecutor of these grooming gangs was actually a British-Pakistani man himself, Nazir Afzal, but for some reason this is a fact that always gets omitted. So the idea that it was the British-Pakistanis in authority who protected thugs is just not accurate either.
Thirdly, if you're citing Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk as your sources then you need to develop your critical thinking skills. Firstly, Elon Musk is literally a Zionist billionaire you can't tell me he doesn't have skeletons in his closet because there is no such thing as an ethical billionaire. In fact, in response to a tweet about US government organising a coup in Bolivia to attain lithium from there, Musk responded: "We will coup wherever we want! Deal with it!" So to those of you who are up Elon Musk's butt, he would not hesitate to destroy your country and kill your families if it meant he could get something he wanted. Also, he has photos with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's right hand woman and whilst that's not concrete evidence of any wrongdoing my point is there are questionable people in his circle who he associates with by virtue of being one of the elite- so it would not at all surprise me if he had crimes similar to these grooming gangs, especially if he's not above overthrowing another country's government to get what he wants irrespective of who will be hurt in the process. Secondly, Tommy Robinson is in prison, not because he spoke out about these cases- but because he committed libel against an innocent Syrian boy and now he's facing the consequences for that. Not to mention, there were convicted predators at Tommy Robinson's EDL march- he does not care about victims, he cares about perpetuating a narrative and I can't say it here because there's a possibility my post might get taken down but just look David Miller the author of the book "What Is Islamophobia?" see what he has to say about Tommy Robinson and where Tommy Robinson gets his funding from. Tommy Robinson hates you and would see you get beaten up in the street for your skin colour if it kept his bank balance full.
Furthermore, the British legal system has a systemic problem when it comes dealing with sexual crimes adequately. Jimmy Saville is a (now dead) British TV star who sexually abused hundreds of people aged 8-47, and the majority of his victims were girls under the age of 16. He was never prosecuted for his crimes. The point isn't whataboutism it's to say that this isn't the only case in which the British legal system failed abuse victims, showing that there is a systemic problem. Furthermore, I want you guys to look at the way the media uses language to perpetuate a divisive narrative. The phrase used for these specific cases are: "Pakistani grooming gangs", but they won't describe sexual abuse that occurs in the church the same way instead of saying "white grooming gangs in Churches" They'll say "A group of priests who sexually abused children" neither race nor framing it as a gang even though it is a gang and what happened in the churches was at its core no different to what happened with these cases on the street: They were both gangs who groomed children and sexually abused them. But they both get framed in different ways.
Lastly, linking all this back to the image of Pakistan and people's perceptions of Pakistan- yes, unfortunately these horrific cases can absolutely taint people's perceptions of Pakistan and Pakistanis as a whole. But to see people in this subreddit falling right into the hands of the far-right who absolutely cannot stand any of you- is so disappointing. We have already been colonised by racist brits once, don't allow yourselves to be intellectually colonised. Yes, these cases are absolutely despicable and we should condemn them as rational decent human beings, but playing into narratives of the far-right doesn't help because they omit certain facts that don't serve their narrative and a lot of their funding comes from a "country" that your passports don't recognise. So by listening to the far-right and taking them seriously, you are inadvertently supporting the state committing genocide against innocent people. There's plenty of ways you can learn about these cases and support the victims, without playing into far-right narratives.
