Is my Navy recruiter trying to discourage me?

I took the ASVAB about a year and half ago and got an 85 with the army, but didn't end up with a contract because of a dislocated shoulder. Fast forward to now, l've tried enlisting with the navy and got accepted right away. I went down to MEPS and was told what jobs I qualify for, I'm attempting to go for some intel role (specifically CWT if I can), but was told my score wasn't high enough. Now I plan on retaking the ASVAB and studying in hopes of raising my score and my recruiter was less than thrilled to hear I wanted to retake the ASVAB. I thought that if my new score was lower my old score was still applicable? Should I just settle with my current score? Or is my recruiter just trying to discourage me? I'm also a little annoyed as I thought I was scheduled to head to MEPS tomorrow, so I called off work using my sick hours only to find out they didn't schedule me.. it is partly my fault for not checking in though.
