Vacation in Minnesota.

Dear friends, I have been in MN only on the business trips over the past few years. Learned very little about the state. (The cheese curds are to die for. I am already addicted.)

Now I am looking for ways to get to know the state better. Possibly move there one day, we'll see.

My short term plan is to work/vacation there for 1-2 months (possibly more) during the summer of 2025. I work remotely and don't have to be in the office.

Please help me figure out a few things:

  1. What would you say is the best months to really enjoy MN? Enjoy the lake activities in particular.

  2. I would like to rent a place on one of the lakes, which lake would you recommend? It doesn't have to be close to the city, but must have decent internet, I am prepared to get Skylink for the time I am there.

  3. What would you recommend to visit while I am in the state? Some parks? Cities? Activities? Throw them in.

  4. What do you like the most about MN?

  5. What don't you like about MN? And I get it, the weather could be warmer, but apart from the obvious, is there something that makes you question why are you there and not somewhere else?

The obvious constraint is money, so let me address that. I am not picky, or fancy, and money here are really a secondary consideration. My primary goal is to gain first hand experience in living in MN on a lake.

Don't feel obligated to answer all the questions, any help/advice is much appreciated.

Thank you!
