So almost finished ME2 LE - question about Miranda and Jack romance

I romanced Jack (after failing to do so in the original) got the scene before suicide mission, achievement etc.

However, it doesn't seem locked in? no new communication between Shep and Jack and here is the weird part, I talked to Jack, canceled our relationship and proceeded to finish romance with Miranda (scene and all) and here there is actually follow-up discussion.

Even Kasumi has something to say about it, when before she talked about how happy she is for Jack.

What's going on?

(yes, I saved the game before trying this)
