What goes on a performance scorecard?
The post I originally replied to was deleted, but the comments made me question what I'm even doing. For background, I was moved straight from high level contributor to manager with zero qualifications, experience, or preparation. The company gave us 'leadership' training that had nothing to do with performance management. We were provided a platform and template that has a lot about values and top achievements, and no way to track OKRs.
Last year they sent the managers for HR training. It was the first time in my entire career that I'd encountered actual performance scorecards. I went back and created one for my team from scratch. Numerical OKRs, project milestones, team capabilities, individual work. Numerical scores and weighted averages. I wanted the team to have a completely transparent review.
But now I don't know just how much granular detail needs to go in each category. And I don't know whether numerical scores are even appropriate if the review, as many here have mentioned, is 'pass or fail'. And for that matter, should I even be using a scorecard?
I'm starting reviews tomorrow. Anything will help. Although I haven't watched Office Space, so maybe not references to that.
