My Husky got loose in an apartment building in Miami
My 3 year old husky got loose at my sisters apartment in Miami. My sister and I had been gone 10 minutes when we got a call from one of her neighbors. She said she had found my husky loose in the hallway and that he must’ve gotten out. She said she would hold him for us given that we were 10 minutes down the road. My sister had asked if she could hold the dog in her apartment so she didn’t have to hold his collar. She said she would. We come back and find the girl holding my husky in the middle of the hallway. We told her thank you and asked if she was okay. She started running to her apartment and said “I have to take my cat to the hospital.” Long story short she is saying that my dog when she brought him in her apartment attacked her cat. She has sent me two bills totaling over $5,000 in vet fees. Am I financially responsible? If I am and can’t pay her then what could happen? Also I’ve tried to contact lawyers to get a professional opinion but they all only represent clients when it comes to dogs biting people.
