Send us all the healing vibes and prayers 🙏🏼
Our 12 week old JRT, that we rescued 3 weeks ago isn’t doing well. Last weekend he started acting weird and it’s been a long week and roller coaster of emotions since then. The vet initially thought our pup was having episodes of low blood sugar and said it’s common in small breeds. We treated for that and he was okay for a day and then continued to decline. After 4 vet trips this week, he thinks our sweet baby has a neurological issue and we’re being sent to UF Veterinary Neurology. The vet called 3 other programs to see if they could take us and every other one said they were full, UF said they’d see him and do an eval and help map a plan of care, but made no promises of what they would do past that. Since our last appointment yesterday afternoon the little man has been doing better, is eating and drinking like normal (he hasn’t for the whole week), and hasn’t had any more “episodes” so we’re hopeful that we will get some good news from UF. He’s already so loved by us and our kids, it’s going to be devastating if we lose him. He’s overcome so much already in his short little life, he deserves the chance to live a full and healthy life. For anyone interested, his main symptoms have been making no noise (not a single whine or bark or sound), stumbling, inability to stand, lethargy, refusal to eat or drink, shaking/slight tremors. Ones that have popped up intermittently have been biting, growling, overall aggression, walking for hours in a circle pattern around the house/kennel/vets exam room with his head down and seemingly unaware of anything else around him, and refusal to sleep.
