How do I make friends with similiar interests?

Recently moved back to Hyderabad and I see that most of my friends have either moved out of the city or the country. Dating apps are really weird when it come to just making friends, even after being very clear about my intentions. Any suggestions on where and how I can make friends in the city I call my own ? And please be a little sensitive in the comments
