HR Turnover?

I’ve been doing a personal side project (so I can’t ask my internal resources) figuring out the turnover on my HR team. If feels insane, but I don’t want to make a stink if it’s actual normal.

I have been on the team for nearly three years (July) and we’ve had 67% turnover, 71% if you include the team manager. It’s talent management (ER, boots on the ground) in manufacturing. I can’t find a benchmark for what normal HR turnover is, let alone for manufacturing. I’d like a reality check if this is normal, especially since there are very few opportunities to move up internally.

Side notes: I don’t know the other areas under the HR umbrella intimately enough to figure it out on my own, but I know our larger TM, Talent Dev, and Comms teams have all had stupid high turnover. Comms is the most obvious at 160% in the last year (had 3, all three resigned the same day, hired three, one didn’t make 6 months, so now they’re at two). It’s a small town family company and when my boss left last year, it should’ve been the biggest red flag, but it wasn’t. We do not have transparency on these metrics within our own departments, only the areas we support.

I don’t think I’ll use this information for anything other than my personal knowledge. Maybe I’ll hive it to my peer for her exit interview, but it feels fruitless knowing those go to HR. Even the ethics hotline is fielded my HR. I don’t think they care about feedback. I’m seeking another opportunity regardless, but curious if anyone has the turnover benchmarks for HR teams, for my own alignment moving forward in my career. I don’t want to take this experience forward as insane if it’s par for the course in manufacturing (which trends at 50% according to the data I was given by Gallup).

Appreciate any insight!
