Beth talking about Ralph’s death

Besides the obvious weirdness with Beth rushing to Ralph’s house, did anyone else find it extremely off putting and strange how happy Beth and Howard sounded telling the story about her taking the Christmas box down from his closet? Did not strike me as a tone of someone who was mourning and really just felt like they were snooping around his apartment.
