About German Job Seeker Visa

I’m Chinese and currently working in US with my F1 OPT visa (grants me 3 years of work in US after graduation that ends 2024 August). I graduated with Bachelors then Masters degree in Engineering in a U.S. university. I don’t speak German but fluent in English. I plan to apply for German job seeker visa and move in January/early 2024 to my friend’s apartment in Berlin. I read a bunch of articles of what I need to prepare, but still have many questions.

  1. Appointment at German consulate: I currently work and stay in Washington state, which technically is under San Francisco consulate, but there is no appointment available at all. Is it okay for me to travel to another consulate for application? Like in Atlanta/Chicago…etc?

  2. Health insurance: will regular travel insurance be acceptable as long as it’s at least 30,000 euro in medical expenses plus valid for 6 months? Any recommendation for insurance choice during job seeking period?

  3. Visa application form on VIDEX (the only online submission I need to do before consulate appointment?): in the second of “Reference”, it asks a German company that invites me there, however it’s a “job seeking visa” and I don’t have an employer yet, how can I skip this section on online form?

Any tip is welcomed! Thank you!
