Looking for your feedback and suggestions on how to improve our homes layout in order to better fit our lifestyles and interests.

To start, id say almost nothing is off limits asides from an addition (its a pain in the ass to get these type of permits where i live). I am okay to move walls and plumbing (this house is on a concrete foundation/basement that is unfinished so it makes moving pipes and electrical easier.

One thing to note - the sliding door in the kitchen is in-fact a window, not a sliding door (but i'd be more than happy to put in a door because i think its weird we only have access to the yard from the family room.

I'd like a kitchen with a view to the family room to keep and eye on the kids. I would also like the kitchen to have ample storage and countertop space and i love to cook. Ideally, we will be building a nice deck out back in the next year or two, so i'd like the kitchen design to take that into consideration and have elements that make the two spaces work nicely together.

I love having a formal dining space, but recognize with this size of home, i might have to sacrifice it to get other more desirable items. If we do sacrifice it, we'd like to still have a seating area that could host extended family and friends for special occasion that doesn't feel like you're eating on the kitchen island.

Happy to answer and questions. Thanks!
