Starting Over Apartment

Hello! I come to you all in DESPERATE need of assistance. I am getting my starting over apartment in February and it has been about 10 years since the last time I lived alone. Ex husband was not the most accommodating when it came to me decorating the marital home so I HAVE no idea where to start when it comes to decorating. I will be getting a small apartment between 600 sq ft apartment and 800 sq feet. What advice do you have for finding my design style and choosing furniture and anything else I am not thinking of. Also would appreciate advice on what stores to shop furniture from as well. Thanks in advance.
