[Manga] Theory on the purpose of the Great Labyrinth in 100 Years Quest
In 100 Years Quest, one of the overarching mysteries was the unknown purpose for which Ignia had Dogramag create the Great Labyrinth of Dogra. With the True Dragon King Festival Arc's reveal that Dogramag created roots to suppress the Dragon Gods, activate them later, and Dragonize Guiltina's people, I think that's part of why Dogramag created the Labyrinth, to spread those roots. But I theorize there's another reason for it.
While Lucy gave sn ominous warning in Chapter 170 about something awful to come, this isn't the first time she's done it. Chapter 118 also had her give a warning about how something would come about as a result of the collapse of the Great Labyrinth of Dogra and the continent-reshaping earthquake that followed. Combining that with Ignia telling the Signario Sisters that "Guiltina would burn one day" and his recent leave from his battle with Black Wizard Faris, this gives me a theory.
Recently I theorized that Ignia isn't just trying to restore the Age of Dragons, but is trying to turn the people of Guiltina into the species who he believes could survive the appearance of a Sun Dragon God, who I theorize is the figure who has gotten his attention recently. However, the question was rightfully raised of where this Dragon God has been this whole time. And my theory is that they were sealed within the continent of Guiltina itself, left in a slumbering state. While spreading the roots necessary for he and Ignia's plan, I speculate he created the Great Labyrinth both as a way to spread the roots, but also to reinforce the seal, creating a structure atop, all across Guiltina, so the Sun Dragon God couldn't escape til they were ready to kill him.
So in regards to Lucy's warning from Chapter 118, my theory is that when Dogramag died and the Great Labyrinth of Dogra was destroyed, the resulting earthquake that reshaped the continent damaged the seal on the Sun Dragon God, leading to his slow, but eventual awakening. And now Ignia's sensed his appearance.
Just a theory though. One that I feel brings together a few teases from throughout the story so far.
