People misinterpreting the show

I hate the discourse around the show. I’ve seen people on twitter claim Shinji is nothing but a female hating misogynist for “viewing the female characters as objects” yet defend Misato’s questionable actions by bringing up her traumas. Twitter users don’t like to give Shinji any leeway despite being a stressed and traumatized child himself. It’s mind-numbing to a point. Yet have no trouble defending her. It’s all very strange to me. I’m not saying Misato is bad or anything, in fact she may be empowering to females.
