Road Rage Encounter at Dubai Airport

Hey, fellow Redditors,

I just had the most bizarre road rage encounter on Airport Street in Dubai, and I needed to share this experience. I was heading towards Terminal 1 departure in my Nissan Tiida with a Sharjah number plate when things took an unexpected turn.

So, there I was, cruising in the second lane, minding my own business, when I realized I needed to switch to the first lane to take an exit towards Terminal 1 departure. So I sped up a bit gave a right signal to merge in the right lane, there was this taxi in the first lane but it was quite lil far as soon as I tried to merge, he increased his speed and tried to not let me merge.

this taxi driver had other plans. Instead of gracefully letting me merge, he decided to engage in some sort of bizarre road race. I accelerated to about 100 KMPH, and so did he. It was like a strange duel on the road, and I honestly couldn't fathom why.

Eventually, I managed to get ahead of him, and that's when things got even weirder. He started tailgating me aggressively, flashing his headlights, and even showed me the middle finger! I mean, I had no idea what had gotten into him.

As if that wasn't enough, he then attempted to overtake me from the left, but karma had other plans. He sped up so recklessly that he forgot there was a speed camera and he got flashed, and I guess he knew it because he quickly swerved right in front of me and started brake-checking multiple times.

The story takes another twist when, He then went back to the second lane and let me go ahead of him and he started following me. upon reaching the airport, I noticed there were a few police cars parked. And I knew he was following me so, I purposely parked in front of the police cars and the taxi guy saw the police cars and he fled away right at that moment. Our road-raging taxi driver must've realized his mistake and made a hasty retreat.

I'm still baffled by this entire ordeal. Why do some people engage in such reckless and aggressive behavior on the road? It's not only dangerous but also completely unnecessary. Has anyone else had similar experiences in Dubai? Stay safe out there, everyone!
