Is this game worth coming back to in 2024

I played this game in like 2018? Had some cool dragons I liked using like Anubis, Loki, and Lilith but I lost my save. I've been playing a similar game (Monster Legends) but it's fallen off so hard and the devs are just getting more and more greedy with it. I might come back to DML if it's still fun. Is this game enjoyable f2p in 2024 or has it suffered a similar downfall?
