Screaming, sobbing, on the floor, just finished da2 for the first time

Can I just say........ wow!!!!!!!!!!! What a game!! da2 spoilers for those who haven't played the game somehow

I understand from what I read da2 is a biiit controversial as an entry into the franchise [ lots of heavy scrapped content that never made it in, dialogue wheel can feel a little bit limiting at times, glitches and bugs running about, encountered plenty of this, so on and so forth ] but man!!!!!!!! i gotta say, it has everything that i love in a story. there's mlm romance options, there's tragedy, there's toxic relationships... did i mention tragedy?

The idea that I was running for rouge!Hawke when it came to him during act 1 was that he was a papa's boy and a country boy through and through, and he was an aggressive dominant personality with the second flavor of purple for the sarcastic responses because He Wanted To be Left The F*ck Alone Already He Only Cares About The People Closest To Him IE His Mom, Bethany And ANDERS. And I was also running with the idea that the thing with Hawke and his friendly!mance with Anders he was coping and justice that there MUST be a binary line where Justice ends and Ander begins, and where Ander ends and Justice begins. He was red-optioning justice at any option given to him whenever justice would come out and he'd just be like *GET OUT OF MY FRICKING BOYFRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\*

The sheer INSAINITY i felt when Bethany was taken to the circle, when every single mage he helped turned their back on him, HIS MOM DIES TO A BLOOD MAGE, HIS DAD WAS ALSO A BLOOD MAGE, EVEN MAGE WARDENS ARE NOT KIND TO MAGES, The Fenris quests, The conflict with Merills clan, and the final Anders quest where he breaks up with you due to ominous reasons... and he does the THING?

Oh, I imagine his cognitive dissonance with Anders was BEYOND comprehension and it was a moment of an insanely devastating acceptance that there was no end or start to him, justice was Anders and Anders was justice. And the sheer absolute HEARTBREAK when Hawke says "Anders... is that why you needed me to talk to the priestess? To distract her? for this?" OHHH I WAS GOING CRAZY!!!"

I had it Hawke ends up siding with the Templars, and he executes Anders. I kind of figured as champion Hawke was gonna find a way to somehow save Bethany ( i was also eating up the family drama there, kind of like a nunally vs lelouch situation if anyone is familiar with code geass ), and I feel like. I just felt like Hawke was in such an insane state of shock that he still wanted to help Anders somehow, but there was just no shot he can just let Anders wander around in the world. If he's going to die , then it MUST be at the hands of someone who loved him, as much it hurts Hawke.

Whatever he and Anders had going on, it wasn't enough to override justice. He loved him, but it wasn't enough. It wasn't enough!!!!!!!

Just, gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I'm so mental about that ending! AND THEN THAT FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE SONG? I'M NOT CALLING YOU A LIAR JUST DON'T LIE TO ME? THERES A GHOST THAT IN MY MOUTH AND IT TALKS IN MY SLEEP???????? I DIDN'T THINK MY FAVORITE SONG WHEN I WAS 15 WOULD COME BACK LIKE THIS!

Just GAAAAAAH, it's a far from a perfect game and I'm def glad I paid five dollars for it, but man what a game!! I'm also insane bc my canon warden romanced alistair, made him king, but didn't let her have the option to kill the archdemon -- so Anders removed the chance for hawke to be able to help/stop him, one of the few people he cared deeply about.

What a game man, what a game. Can't wait to do that re-canon. What was ya'll's idea for your hawke and how did that play out for you? I needs to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
