Nameless King Debate

I’ve recently just beaten this boss for the first time. Since beating him I’ve been reading/listening/watching up about him.

The fight seems to have a bit of a polarising reputation. A lot of people don’t like the first phase. And many find the second phase unfair/inexplicable. Some consider it the all time greatest boss!

I found both phases incredibly fair. Despite this being a long fight to learn, perhaps 6-7 hours, I enjoyed every minute of it. I’d say it’d be my favourite so far, even more so than Friede (whose second phase made me be a little more cautious than I’d normally enjoy playing).

Perhaps these negative perceptions are outdated now that the fight is more mature. What are all your thoughts about him? Lore/visual/mechanical?
