Ideas for Supplementing CrossFit
Some background: 32M 5’10, have battled weight my entire adult life. My highest is what I’m running from now, 313. My lowest was at 19, when I went from 240 to 180.
I started this current weight loss journey in October at 313. At first I was just counting calories. In early December I joined a CF gym. It’s worked for me. My goal was to go 3-4 days a week, I’ve found myself going 4-5 days a week because I really enjoy it.
Now, at 275ish, I’m looking to supplement with a gym workout. I have a membership through school (I’m a law student), and my general plan is to go after CF and before class, to shower for the benefit of all, but also to get in some extra work. My primary motivation right now is athletics, specifically sports officiating. I may cross post in an officiating sub to get their thoughts too, but I want to be in better shape by the fall football season.
I’m struggling to think of how to structure these additional workouts though. Should I go just cardio and calorie burn since CF involves a lot of dynamic weight? Should I play it by ear with the WOD and kind of do whatever it doesn’t? Should I aim for endurance, since CF is all about short bursts?
Any thoughts are welcome.
