Help figuring out how to make a light sword

Hey there! I’m extremely new to cosplay and I have a concept that’s slightly complicated and I wanted to ask how to go about it. I wanted to make Kizaru’s Light Sword from one piece and make it where it lights up, but I have no idea how to actually go about it since I’m not very good with electronics. What recommendations would you have about going about this?
