Bus Eireann

Jaysus lads, the amount of posts ive come across recently in regards to the Bus Service. To anyone who’s fortunate enough to ask “Is it really THAT bad?” No, it isnt. Its much worse.

I’d genuinely be interested in seeing a case study as to why this service, despite the pressure being put on them, they never seem to improve? I read last month that they were fined somewhere close to 6 million in the last 6 years due to their poor punctuality which is absolutely insane, also saw something about only a quarter of the services in cork running on time, which again is insane.

So between unpleasent to (at times) downright threatening staff, late buses, skipped stops and cancellations, where is the actual effort to improve on it?

I was interacting with some of ye yesterday on a post and honed in on how Bus driving could definitely be perceived as a miserable job and I get that, most jobs that are public facing are, but in most of those jobs theres certain standards of customer service that need to be upheld. Maybe rolling out additional training ro the drivers on that respect would be a good start? I could see more people taking interest in working for the company if the staff seemed.. happier. The advertised pay seems great to be honest and if I didn’t have my own career going on now I would likely consider it, but again thats just based on IF the staff were much more pleasant.

Ive gone on a bit of a yap, and like all professions, its not everyone and I have definitely met my fair share of bang on Bus Drivers.

I’m generally interested in hearing everyones ideas on how this service can improve

Tell me your bad stories. Tell me your great stories! Shout out your favourite bus driver or just say what you need to say! I would love to eventually see peoples concerns and queries taken on so we can actually make our daily commutes somewhat stress free!
