Best place to work?

Hi, I've been a CNA for a year at a skilled nursing facility, and I want to work someplace that's not a skilled nursing facility.

Before you suggest working at hospitals, yes I am aware hospitals are usually the best places to work, but where I am located (in California, but for the sake of privacy I won't specify exactly where I am) the hospital jobs here are so competitive to get into, even for a CNA/PCT position. I have already checked Indeed and the hospitals' direct websites, but it's either there are no positions listed for CNA/PCT or I already applied and got rejected without being interviewed (my resume is organized, accurate, and contains key words for each job listing so I'm guessing it's other applicants who have more experience or connections than me).

I have yet to hear back from 1 more hospital if I'm gonna be interviewed, but according to many other healthcare workers and reviews, this hospital is known to take 2-3 months for the whole hiring process, and I would preferably like to start working sooner because I might not stay to work very long (the hospital might not hire me either if I tell them I'm only gonna work 6 months) depending on if I'm accepted into nursing school, which would start in the fall.

So, if the hospital takes too long to respond, I need a backup plan to apply for other places.

Essentially, what nursing facilities are best to work in?

I have already worked in skilled nursing facility, which was very cool to learn about many new things and meet many people and I like being busy, but sometimes there were just too many patients to care for and so little time, that I really wish I could spend more time caring for them.
