Is there an animated moment in any show you’ve enjoyed that just made you go “Holy Shit”?
This moment from Hey Arnold “Arnold’s Christmas” where Mr. Hyunh gives up his daughter in war torn Vietnam, with no certainty of ever seeing her again sticks out more than any other moment I can possibly think of. The fact that he made the decision to give his daughter a fight I chance anywhere but there spoke to so much that I couldn’t understand as a kid, but being a dad now I couldn’t imagine having to make that sacrifice. The colors illustrated during the invasion part as a kid I found it interesting but as a teenager/young adult completely blown away by the complexity of a story like that within the mythos of a kids cartoon.
