Whats living in St Paul's like?

Seems like somewhere that vaguely alludes to being affordable to buy in the city, I know there's a lot of crime and I travel through stokes croft every day so I see how grim it can get round there but is it actually that bad to live in? Anyone who has bought there got any advice or experiences to share? Thanks in advance
