Growing up as a black girl is way different than growing up as a black guy (obviously) but here is my reasoning

This is probably going to sound stupid. But I was watching the Ms Pat show, and Janelle was talking about how it's different because she doesn't really have any friends, she's not really perused romantically or platonically. Unlike Junebug because people ask him for shoe advice and generally just wanna be his friend because he's a cool black guy and gets a lot of attention. Definitely not a bad thing, he has a good personality

And as a black girl who went to school in a VERY predominantly white school, where I was the only black girl in my grade of 250 people, I never thought about it that way. I definitely noticed it but couldn’t put my finger on it. I totally understand it. The black guys that went to my school weee very pursued romantically and everyone wanted to be their friend. I’ve heard a lot of black ladies say this too. Most of them were not nice, they were very cocky and treated women like shit

Obviously not all of them are like that lol. I didn't even realize I was attractive until I went to college in a bigger city. Has anyone else noticed this? Or know where I'm coming from??
