The most beautiful betta I've ever seen but could he be dyed?

I was in the store while my cats are getting vaxxed, I've been thinking about getting a betta again, anyway I commented that this guy was the most beautiful fish I've ever seen and my husband goes 'It's got to be dyed'. I did a little research and most people say no but there's a very old thread on fishforums.net that said they can be dyed or injected... How horrifying, could this possibly be the case for this little guy??
