The Eaglets have landed!
National Park News on Instagram: "We couldn’t resist sharing one more good news update from the nest! Jackie and Shadow, the beloved bald eagle pair in Big Bear Valley, welcomed a third eaglet!
The news is sure to thrill fans from around the world who keep close track of the birds perched in their nest in California’s scenic San Bernardino National Forest. Adoring viewers get an eagle-eye view of Jackie and Shadow’s fascinating lives thanks to a live feed operated by the wonderful Friends of Big Bear Valley.
The livestream is captivating, especially knowing there are three adorable eaglets tucked safely under doting mom, Jackie. You never know what’s going to happen next, and it’s exhilarating to catch a glimpse of the little birds during feedings or shift changes. Shadow has been doing a great job supplying meals to mom and babies, and they are incredibly gentle with their sharp beaks while feeding the eaglets.
Bald eagles have been known to successfully fledge three chicks at once (meaning they fly off on their own), so we’re hoping this is the case with this beautiful brood!
