algae growing

Hi! I am at my wits end. I keep growing algae instead of herbs. I have tried running a vinegar/water through it for 24 hours, put it in the dishwasher, added hydrogen peroxide when I put the “food” in, and added golf balls over open holes. is it because I am using pods off of amazon? what else can I do to not have this green goo? thank you for your help in advance!
