Get rid of shit
Unless you're already a minimalist (unlikely), you probably have too much crap. Each of us have our own vices, categories of junk.
I try to think about the storage, cleanliness, and accessibility of my physical stuff. There is a time and sometimes $ cost. Decor that sits out needs dusting. Clothes need room in a dresser, closet or accessible storage spot. You're out of room for all your clothes at a certain point. I definitely am saying that to help convince myself with clothes being one of my vices.
If you can't find it or reach it and therefore don't use it, why do you have it? Some items might be exceptions but it's rare.
Less dishes are less washing. Less clothes are less washing, folding, hanging. I know this is obvious to lots of people, but it took me over 30 years to understand this. Now I give up stuff I don't have a spot for or timely plan for use, with rare exceptions.
It is definitely connected to trauma and poverty so processing and trying to heal from a lot of that helped me get rid of things without being afraid I might need it or not be able to replace it if it's needed later.
I've been donating tons of stuff and I feel hopeful about keeping the house tidy for the first time in a while.
