Discount code removes free shipping

I went to buy a few shirts and it shows me I have free shipping. I then proceed to put in a discount code but it removed my free shipping. Is it supposed to be like this?? Kind of annoying I can’t use a discount code while also getting free shipping when I’m paying well over 75 dollars.
