Digital Backwards Compatible games unplayable, help?

Whenever i try to load a BC game (in this case oblivion) when loading I get the 360 notification that it’s disconnected from Xbox live, and when asked to sign in on the 360 menus, I get the popup that I can’t connect, therefore I can’t play. Anyone know of any workarounds??
