Door handle recall tip

Tomorrow AM I am scheduled to take my 2023 AWD Pro S in for the door handle recall. Having read about the backorders, I called the dealer this afternoon (also to confirm a loaner car would be available). I asked if they have the door handles in stock, because it's a 30 minute drive for me to get there and I didn't want to waste my time if they don't have it. He checked and said they do not, and that there are currently 4000+ backordered door handles across the US.

Then he said, "What I'll do is put in a repair order for your car. The part is tied to your VIN so somebody in the service department can't take it for another car. When it gets here we'll call you and schedule a time."

So, before you waste your time, see if they can just put in a repair order and get the part for you ahead of your appointment. Now I don't have to go there tomorrow, and can just take it in when I know it can be dealt with.
