Metro Awakening (Yay or nay?)

I've been keeping my eye out on this game for a while and was excited to get it, but after looking through the early access reviews, although most of them are positive they appear to be all complaining about very bad graphics and not great gunplay/controls. Most positive reviews are saying "not great but hopefully will be improved!"

Seeing as it's $40 I don't want to drop money right now if it's not worth my time, are these complaints accurate or was this resolved from early access? Seems to be sounding like the Assassins creed VR game, not much depth or passion but more of a tech demo from a studio that's dipping their toes into the VR genre, just curious from anyone's opinion that has tried it after full release
