Dark skinned Ukrainians.

My grandparents emigrated from Ukraine during the Bolshevik Revolution. My grandfather Michael had green eyes, very dark skin, and straight jet black hair that never faded. When looking at pictures of him before he passed in the 80’s I don’t see what a typical Ukrainian. The dark skin, green eyes was passed to me as well. Even though I have light brown hair and generally European facial features, many people think I’m Asian or Arab. When I look at pictures of ethnic Turks my father and grandfather look much more like them than Ukrainian. Just curious if anybody out there has had this experience or may have more knowledge of genetics in Ukraine. Thank you.
