Does the Ally guardian do anything at all?

This is close to the end of the T9 run. In stats the guardian just has 0's everywhere. I would expect at least the catches to be more than 0? Am I missing something? Also visually I hadn't seen it fo anything even with enemies pathing right through it. It was just bouncing around
