What does Mellie have against Joann?

When I watch the show, I always notice how Mellie is so rude to Joann for no reason. Like when Kayla had that lū’au party, Mellie wouldn’t even let Joann hold her baby! And that time when they were in New Orleans, why was Mellie ready to jump over the seat and attack her blood sister like that?
