First bike owner who has takin the safety basic rider course and will do an advance safety rider course in a month or 2 but want a bike to grow into and keep for at least 3-5 years before replacing or trading.
So I promised my family that I would take the Basic rider safety course before even purchasing a motorcycle. Which I have completed a week ago.
I went into my dealership today to see what bike fits me for someone who wants to ride for fun, commute to work, and at times ride in the highway to commute to a city for the weekend that is 1-2 hours away from home.
I’m a big stickler on safety so I told them I want a bike that I can grow into and I’m not looking for speed and performance more of a good ratio of comfort, performance, and safety. Since I’ll be riding on the highway. I told them that I can pay up to 10k and they suggested this for me.
- Z650 ABS
- MT-09
- MT-07
- Z900 (not recommended but if responsible can last more then 5 years)
- R7
They even told me that this was a wise decision especially if I buy new as most riders who start off with R3 or 400 grow out of them quickly and they tend to want to upgrade to a 650 or similar. They also told me there are modes for it so you don’t accidentally throttle or go too fast as a beginner. They have use bikes as well but not something I would want and then sell later.
I know how dealers can be so are these suggestions they gave me good options for a responsible rider?
